The Blue Hackathon was organized in the premises of Patras Science Park (Annex 3), on April 5 & 6 2019. The event started at 12:00 the first day and lasted until 21:00 while in the second day the event started at 10:00 and lasted up to 21:00. Patras Science Park awarded the best team of each challenge with a local sailing boat trip. The second team of each challenge was awarded with products from PHEE company. Last but not least, POS4work awarded all 4 teams by giving them the opportunity to join the pre-incubator RE-STARTUP Patras and use the coworking space and the POS4work laboratory for two months. All the participants received a certificate of participation in the Blue Hackathon.
The participants in the Blue Hackathons were:
– the representatives of MSMEs/Start-Ups on the sectors of coastal and maritime tourism.
– graduated students, post-graduated students, PhD candidates, young researchers.
Specifically, they registered 54 persons, in a google form of the Blue Hackathon but 30 persons’ participated in the event. 14 of them were women and 16 men. The graduated students, post-graduated students and PhD candidates who participated in the event, they were from the campus of University of Patras and the Technological and Educational Institution of Western Greece. The participants had a diversity of skills from many departments, such as Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Geology, Biology, Business Administration, Environmental Science.
The competition brought about interesting and innovative ideas. The winning team for the challenge of coastal tourism, developed the project with the name “REACHABLE”. “REACHABLE” is a prototype design of an amphibious sea bike with innovative applications combining simultaneously the fishing tourism. In second place for the challenge of coastal tourism was the team with the project “Schnelle Pedale”, another 3D design of an amphibious sea but with different approach from the first one. Both teams were invited to cooperate with TOBEA for implementation of their projects.
Αs far as the challenge for fishing tourism is concerned the first place took the team with the innovative mobile application “FISH-E”. This team had the time to develop an application for mobiles with a modern approach in fishing tourism. The second winning team in this challenge was a team consisted by biologists that developed the idea of a mobile application with innovation features such as useful info, fishing games and citizen science. These two teams proposed to cooperate with each other so their application be optimized.
